Step 2: submit the application fee

Pay the non-refundable application fee ($50 per student) online or mailed to Cimarron School of Living Education, PO Box 158, Guthrie, Oklahoma 73044.

  3. 03

Step 3: complete required reading & response form

    • After completing the application, parents are required to read Susan Schaeffer Macaulay’s book, For the Children’s Sake. You may order this book online, purchase one from Cimarron for a Tuesday/Thursday or Wednesday/Friday pick up, or listen to the audiobook.
    • Complete the response questionnaire regarding the reading (linked from the live application page as a Google Form).

    Step 4: request recommendation forms

Request and send the required recommendation form to 3 individuals. Must be submitted prior to the Family Session. Applicants in process after May 1st are required to submit three recommendations in lieu of a Shadow Day.

To be completed by: a previous principal, teacher, homeschool co-op leader, or private tutor. If none of these are applicable, please have a church Sunday school teacher or similar person complete. Recommendation forms may not be completed by a relative of the student.

  5. 05

Step 5: complete a Shadow Day visit

When Shadow Days are open, schedule one after the application and fee are complete. Shadow Days run from 10 am to 1 pm. Students are dropped off. When the school year is winding down, Cimarron has paused Shadow Days and asked applicants after May 1st to submit three recommendations instead.

During a Shadow Day, prospective students accompany their intended grade level throughout the class’ daily schedule, becoming familiarized with authentic classwork, classroom structure, and student life.

On the day of your Shadow, keep these details in mind:

    • Shadow Day begins at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 1:00 p.m.
    • You may drop off your child under the awning at the front of the building. Doors open at 9:45. Parents are welcome to join us for Symposium from 10:00-10:15.
    • You may pick up your child at the door marked office at 1:00 pm.
    • Please pack your child a lunch (no microwave available).
    • Dress code: We ask our students to dress modestly and appropriately for the weather. We go outside even when it’s cold!
    • Visiting students with unbecoming conduct will be asked to leave campus by parent pick-up.
    • Parents must complete the Shadow Day consent form before arriving to campus (sent via DocuSign or similar e-sign tool).

Questions about Shadow Day: email office@cimarronlivingeducation.com or call (572) 205-3905.

  6. 06

Step 6: complete a Family Session

After the above steps have been completed and reviewed, you will be contacted to set up a Family Session. During the Family Session, we’ll meet and see if we’re a good fit for one another. We will discuss the required reading, review the Shadow Day visit, gather additional information, and answer any questions.

  7. 07

    Step 7: confirm enrollment

Admission decisions will be communicated by email and will be made on a case by case basis. Once invited to enroll, families must confirm their enrollment by completing Cimarron’s Enrollment Packet within five days of the enrollment invitation date.

The following must be submitted to complete enrollment:

    • Enrollment Signature Packet (sent via DocuSign or similar e-sign tool). This includes: the Family Enrollment Agreement, Tuition Commitment Agreement, and Handbook Signature Page.
    • Enrollment fee submission via QuickBooks invoice (one fee per child) according to the admissions calendar.
